2007 Giant lineup on mbaction.com

Rumours and conjecture have been swirling around the proposed ‘07 Giant lineup for the past couple of months, with pictures of a carbon Trance showing up online (and on the race course) and more info about a beefed up version of the Reign. Mountain Bike Action is the first major site that’s posted up pics of the full 2007 Giant product lineup, and I must say that it looks pretty darn nice.
The bikes
Short travel. The Anthem Advanced steps into its own as Giant’s full-on xc racer, with Fox taking care of the suspension, Mavic providing the wheels, and the new Shimano XTR stuff finishing it off.

The other short travel offering is the Trance model, headlined by the Trance Advanced, a carbon-framed 4.2″ monster that looks set to really rip it. Current Giant owners will likely be a little choked that the cable routing on their models is now obsolete because it basically proves that the pinching problems many out there had with their rides had more to do with frame design than bike setup. Anyways, Giant has moved the routing onto the downtube, likely to take care of the routing headaches that were common on the ‘05 and ‘06 models.

Mid travel. The revamped Reign models look perfect for the aggressive all mountain / light freeride riders out there. I love the fact that Giant listened to its customers and is providing two solid-looking six inch bikes with either the Fox DHX Air or DHX coilover taking care of rear squish. For those of you who don’t want or need the bigger shock, you can still saddle up on an RP23-equipped ride.

Long travel. The Glory replaces the Faith and it looks burly as all heck. The Glory DH Comp looks set to rip it up on the dh scene, and I’d expect to see the Athertons continue their recent run of success on the tweaked version of this chassis.

Other notes
The new finishes look stellar, especially on the Anthem Advanced; all of the Reign models look sharper than the grungy, aggro look that Giant trotted out in ‘06. New lines on the frames — check out the difference between the chunky Trance and Specialized’s Enduro — give traditionalists something to cheer for.
Good stuff, check it out on the Mountain Bike Action website.
