Cannondale Riders Give Back

The Cut crew visits LA Hospital
For sometimes obvious reasons, freeride and downhill mountain bikers sometimes get the reputation as being party animals who care more about themselves than anyone else.
That’s why it’s nice to hear some riders are trying to change that opinion by doing something nice to make the lives of other people better.
Cannondale’s team riders known as The Cut headed to the Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles Monday where they visited with the kids and put on a riding demonstration.
The day started with a live TV spot with KTLA’s morning show then the crew received a VIP tour of the hospital’s state of the art facilities and the Saban Research Institute where they met with doctors, scientists and nurses who explained more about what the hospital does.
“This was one the best things I have ever done, it was so inspiring to meet with all the kids and learn more about the hospital,” explains Cut captain Aaron Chase. “The kids are awesome and they were able to show me a thing or two about never giving up, anything is possible.”
For their outdoor demo, the crew built a custom box jump in the hospital’s Healing Garden where over 300 kids came to watch the guys perform backflips, tailwhips and 360’s. The guys finished up the day with visits to the hospital’s play rooms and teen center where they handed out bandanas and signed autographs for the kids and staff.
“We had a great day at the Children’s Hospital. Everything from hanging out with the kids in the ‘Teen Lounge’ and playing Twister, to learning about the crazy regeneration research that the scientists are working on at the Saban Research Lab. Spending time with those kids was the highlight of the year for me,” said Chris Van Dine.
