* Have registered users, and have them log in before commenting;
* Have server-generated images where you have to type the text that appears in the image into a field;
* Log and block the IP of the offending spammers.

I really don't like the server-generated images option for accessibility reasons; However, I guess with you'd need to way up the decreased spam vs the number of readers that have accessibility issues.</description>
