The Sette Edge Stem features a removable 4-bolt face keeps your bar secured into place reducing harmful stress risers that can destroy handlebars.

Sette XLR Low Riser Handlebar. Is your classic XC rig missing comfort and control? Then you need to step up with the Sette XLR low riser handlebar. It will provide you the relaxed position you require. Fabricated from 2014 T-6 butted and bead blasted aluminum. The Sette XLR Low Riser Handlebar is hard anodized to prevent corrosion.

Have not use the Sette product myself, but I do know someone who does. He swears the durability is great.

I, myself, am not worthy of the nice Sette bits. But my 92 Jamis Dakota certainly is. It currently gets single speed duty and is sitting at a nice 22lbs. I love climbing on the bike and if I can get it down to 20lbs it would be all love. I know the Sette components can help to reach that goal.

In it’s lifetime my Dakota has seen duty as my 1st MTB, only transport, daily commuter across San Francisco, and currently ligthweight single-speed. It has seen action in England’s Peak District, Scotland’s Highlands, San Francsico streets, Coastal Range multiday MTB tours and is still rockin.

Help me keep my Dakota rollin with pride, a 15 year anniversary gift for the Dakota would be stellar. I will provide pics - it’s still a great looking bike with an oversized Tange rigid fork.

The Dakota will get it’s first race this Wednesday.

Why me?

Because I have kids. Four of them.

And they dance ballet. And they play soccer. And they go to gymnastics. And they play baseball. And they ride bikes. Then there is soccer camp and ballet camp and the specter of the dreaded “premiere” soccer that all adds up.

All that money I used to have to dedicate to my ride now goes (an not unappreciateively I might add - they are sweet kids) to my kids to better themselves.

So nowadays, my ride just endures. Just like “the dude” it abides. There is nothing wrong with abiding (well, maybe that crunchy bottom bracket shoudln’t abide much longer) but this would be a nice “here is to you dad” so near to such a day.

Hi,

Why should I win the complete sette cockpit? I should win because I could really use some free mountain bike components. I currently ride a 5+ year old mountain bike that doesn’t deserve the name. It has low end components, a saddle that doesn’t even have rails. A seat post the will doesn’t go high enough and has no adjustability and the handle is two low. Wining the sette gear would transform my bike from its current sorry state into an comfortable ride-able bike.

Thanks

I would like to win because my 1993 Raliegh Tangent converted to a single speed could use a freshening.

6. Posted by Dave | 6:20 am, 6 June 2006

My current ride has a Red Stem, Black Bars, Silver Seatpost, Black and Silver Saddle, all from different manafacturers.

Its on a a blue and white VT1 frame, with a orange Manitou Minute 2.

It has a complete Deore level drivetrain.

A nice matched Sette cockpit would make the bike less rainbow powered, and bring a nice sense of completeness to the bike.

And my friends will stop laughing at me!

No sob story here. I’m young (26), married and a father to a cute 1 year old son + 1 more on the way.

Before we knew we were pregnant, we doubled our mortgage. After the child’s birth my wife became a stay at home mother, hence we halfed our income. So, unless I win the lotto, I’m not upgrading my entry level mtn bike for years and years to come.

In truth, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I am currently (re)building up my old mountain bike for a friend who works for a non-profit. it’s an old-skool (yes, with a K) Nishike from like 10 years ago, so it is, to put it kindly, a hunk of junk. So it neeeds fancy new bits like these.

9. Posted by Paul Latimer | 12:09 pm, 6 June 2006

Wait a minute! You mean you can get matching components? Wow! I thought that mismatched hand-me-downs were the only thing I would ever see.

Well, OK, I do know that you can actually purchase nice, matched components, but I guess I always figure that the cost is just too high. I see others using spankin’ nice stuff and I dream of my ride looking the same.

At this point, my bike sits. Trying to build a worthy bike on a very limited budget is not easy. Nice parts like offered here would make it much easier, and move it a little closer to completion.

Maybe I don’t deserve it - after all, no other contest has ever found me deserving. But maybe it is about time that things change for me. Please?? (puppy dog eyes peering upward at the powers that be)

Well, personally I vote for the dude with 4x kiddos, but I got 2x kiddos, work full time, commute and ride my 99 Trek with a slipping generic seatpost, ripped saddle, goffy “soccer dad” high chrome (!) stem, and, well, actually my bar is fine, so no guilts there.

The rear wheel hits the brakes, the drivetrain either won’t shift when I want, or shifts when I don’t want it to, and generally, she could use some Good Love. But she’s mine and she’s fine and I love her.

Lemme know if you wanna share yer love.

Keep up the great site and Price Point, keep rolling out the great products.

Why do I deserve to win? That’s easy. I’m a poor starving grad student who lives in New Jersey and can’t even afford a car. So instead, I must ride my bike every day to get to school and to buy groceries. Well, honestly I’m a bike fanatic and I don’t mind “having” to ride that much. Still, I could use the parts to upgrade and maintain my current ride.

PricePoint is a great online bike shop. They stock good stuff (not several-year-old and questionable stuff like some other sites), the site is well organized, the prices are low and things are shipped quickly.

I figure that most other people give the same spiel that they deserve to win because of their dire financial situation or their worn parts. I’m right with them; my financial situation -is- dire and my parts are -quite- worn, but I have reasons above and beyond those. I ride for the fun of it. Although I’ve entered my fair share of races (doing quite badly, I might add), my quest for the Sette parts is simply because I wish to improve my bike’s comfort and handling to a point where my love for the trails will increase a hundred fold. I don’t compete so much to win and I don’t ride so much to conquer either. I ride to develop myself and have a damn lot of fun while I’m at it.

It’s said that better equipment doesn’t make one a better rider, but I say that it doesn’t make one any worse either. My girlfriend, who I helped get into the sport by pitching in for her own bike, is a casual paved-trail rider. However, I believe that with some quality equipment, her experience can be made that much better than a ride with some Wal-Mart scrapper. Much the same for myself; I read the articles on your site as well as others and witness the exploits and adventures of writers such as yourself; I cannot compare myself to your level, but I can still have a great time! If I’m chosen, many thanks to you and PricePoint.com! If not, then many thanks regardless and congratulations to the winner!

I ride but not well enough to be worthy of the equipment. My friend that got me into biking, however, is definitely worthy. This observation is not made based on skill or achievement; he is truely passionate about biking. I think that it is most important to enjoy sports and biking is one of those things that he does purely for fun. Although I’m still learning the basics of biking, my friend’s excitement and love for the sport has rubbed off onto me.

I want to win this set of equipment for him as a gesture of my gratitude and appreciation for his efforts. Also, I’m really glad that he got me into biking because I enjoy it a lot and it has developed into an interest rather than a just way to keep in shape. Although I would like to purchase it myself, I simply do not have the funds and I know he doesn’t either considering the fact that we’re both university students. I would appreciate it a lot and I know he would too.

However, I do know that there are plenty of others out there that also deserve this set of equipment so all the best to whomever wins!

I’m trying to build a bike for my little sister and it would be nice to get some of the parts for cheap (ie. free)!

15. Posted by David French | 12:14 pm, 9 June 2006

I am worthy because my girlfriends bike needs upgrades, and I’ve already spent too much on it.

16. Posted by Vaughn | 2:54 pm, 11 June 2006

I’d be worthy of this because I was built a Santa Cruz Blur and skimped (due to lack of money) on the cockpit. The saddle was “given to” me…ouch! Help me out! :)

17. Posted by Steve | 8:57 am, 15 June 2006

Why am I worthy?

Because I think there’s a lot to be said for shameless grovelling.

18. Posted by Ryan Stashak | 9:43 am, 16 June 2006

I don’t know that I deserve these sweet items anymore than anyone else here. I’ve been gradually trying to update my rockhopper for about 3 years now part by part and the money never seems to be there…these would be an awesome addition to my ride!

19. Posted by jason | 9:14 am, 19 June 2006

never had any sette stuff personally. friend just bought a frame and it seems to be decent quality for the price.

20. Posted by Al Wong | 3:53 am, 24 June 2006

i deserve it… because i’m 16 with no job, trying to get into the sport. i can’t get a job, because my dad’s signed me up for a leadership course in alberta for 6 weeks. so basically, any hope of getting money to upgrade my bike this summer is out the door. i really would appreciate this upgrade (probably more than others) from my stock hardrock sport cockpit to the sette version. thanks :)

Well. . . I have been a stay-at-home Dad for three years now. Riding time is precious. Bike-maintenence time is very limited. We have lots and lots of mud in the NE. A new cockpit would make me a very happy Dad. Less time working on the bike = more time riding. Happy Dads = Happy kids. Support more bike riding for the good of the children.

22. Posted by Martin Cloutier | 9:09 am, 28 June 2006

A thief just has stolen almost every interesting parts of my Giant XTC that is not only a playing toy but also my mean of transport. That kit would ease the pain of rebuilding my bike.

[…] Just a couple of quick words on the Sette cockpit giveaway that I mentioned at the beginning of June. Thanks for everybody who added their names to the hat — this type of promo was something I’d like to do more often. Thanks also goes out to PricePoint for providing the gear for this giveaway. […]
